JOB DETAILS:

Armored Vehicle Crewmembers

Job Description

Discipline. Leadership. Teamwork. These are the qualities all employers look for because people who possess them think clearly, remain calm under pressure, and push the organization forward. Join the Army National Guard and you will take these qualities into your civilian career.

The Army National Guard has openings for AVENGER and M1 Armor Crewmembers. As a Crewmember on an AVENGER operations team, you will provide mobile, short-range air defense protection. As an M1 Abrams Tank Crewman, you will use mobility, firepower, and shock effect to engage the enemy. To do so, you will learn how to prepare, operate, and fire the weapons systems, establish and maintain radio communications, and perform target engagement evaluations. Other duties include driving, vehicle maintenance, and securing battle positions.

And as your skills increase, so will your responsibilities. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers and take on more leadership roles during operations. And the experience of operating and maintaining this complex equipment may prepare you for a future operating heavy machinery or in the mechanical repair industry.

Earn while you learn

Get paid to learn! As an Army National Guard armored vehicle crewmember, you can earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance.

After Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend approximately 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which will include a combination of hands-on and classroom training, during which you will learn how to decisively compute target locations, proper ammunition handling techniques, system operations, and artillery tactics.
